NUKE'S Photo Gallery

    NUKE'S BIO

    • Suitable for which type of housing? (House, townhome, apartment?)  needs to be a detached home.  Nuke has separation anxiety.  If the housing has fencing, he can jump out of any fencing of 5-6ft
    • Is your dog good with other dogs? YES! He has a weird obsession with grooming and extra loving However not all dogs enjoy this kind of playing and behaviour. He is respectful when the other dogs tell him off. He would do VERY well with a similar energy similar play style dog. He likely would do best in a home with another dog.
    • Is your dog good with cats? Untested, he is a lover but can play very hard.
    • Is your dog good with kids? He would be fine with kids 6+
    • Is your dog house trained? Yes!
    • Is your dog crate trained? Yes and no.  He will go in his crate but can destroy it.  It depends on if there is other dogs there.  He does really well with a indestructible crate from Amazon.
    • Does your dog have any special needs? He will do very well with a solid routine
    • Does your dog have any or display any aggression? (Toys, food or people?) NA (with food, if the other dogs approach him he will growl a little but will not do anything) share toys with people and other dogs fine.
    • Is your dog playful? VERY! He is high energy and would do great in agility.
    • Does your dog like to snuggle? Yes loves it
    • Does your dog know basic commands? (Sit, stay...) sit
    • Does your dog know any special tricks? Can clear 6ft fences
    • Does your dog like to go on walks? Amazing on walks, may pull slightly to go see new furry friends but very good
    • Does your dog have any fears? Being alone but can be worked with solid routine and crate training
    • Does your dog have any unique traits that you have noticed whether in personality or physically? Expressive eyebrows, SUPER soft fur
    • What are the three first words that come to mind when you think of your dog? Casonova (for his humping and loving nature with all), Powerhouse ( for his burst of playful energy), funsized ( you think he’d be larger than expectation from photos and proportions)

    • Nuke is a 3 years old stray from the far west region of Ottawa. He is neutered, 30-40 lb mini shepherd mix with SO MUCH love to give all that has meet him. He has buggy/puggy looking eyes with little eyebrows that seems to never get enough of the cuddles and pets offer to him. He is incredibly people and dog motivated (between people/dogs and treats, he would for sure pick people/dogs over anything). For that trait, sometimes it can drive him to want to be with his crew/pack to the point that he wants to break out of his crate.. He is looking for a home that can keep him engaged with another doggy play pal that shares his energetic playing style (he loves to hump the other dogs but don’t mind getting hump back, he’s give and take kinda guy) but still loves to cuddle during down time. With the separation anxiety, he would benefit a routine and patience. He needs to learn that his people will not be leaving him. Due to his separation anxiety and barking/crying we do not recommend him with any attached housing. Nuke is a very smart boy and has  an understanding of the concept of crate training.   Nuke is house trained Nuke is untested with cats. He is SUPER loving with all and is not hesitant with anything. He has been resource tested and he is ok with removal of food/bone/toys by human but can growl when the other dogs come for his food. He will growl and as long as the other dogs respect his space he has 0 issues.  He was fostered with multiple dogs of different breed and sexes. If you are looking for a funsized cuddle buddy that will never get enough of you, please submit an app to meet Nuke or email adoptions@freedomdogrescue.ca for more info.
