POPPY'S BIO
- Suitable for which type of housing? (House, townhome, apartment?) House with a fenced-in backyard with grass – she enjoys digging, rolling in the grass, and running around.
- Is your dog good with other dogs? Yes. She met a 6-year old female dog (heeler mix) during her foster time and got along really well with her.
- Is your dog good with cats? She does run after the cat whenever she sees her (the cat will usually hide). She’s curious and would love to play with her.
- Is your dog good with kids? Was only around teenagers during her foster period and was not around children under 12. Would likely be better with older kids as she is a playful pup, so she does nip from time to time, and her teeth are quite sharp.
- Is your dog house trained? Still a work-in-progress, but she is doing really well. She might have one accident every other day or so.
- Is your dog crate trained? Sleeps in her crate at night, no problem, but does not like to be in her crate otherwise, especially if people are around (i.e. if getting ready to leave the house, she will bark/scream)
- Does your dog have any special needs? No.
- Does your dog have any or display any aggression? (Toys, food or people?) No.
- Is your dog playful? Yes, very! She loves her toys, but also loves shoes and slippers - so would be best to keep those out of reach!
- Does your dog like to snuggle? Does not “snuggle” so much, but LOVES to be near me or know where I am at all times (i.e. will sleep by my feet while I’m working)
- Does your dog know basic commands? (Sit, stay...) She knows “Come” and working on “Sit” Does your dog know any special tricks? When coming in from outside, you can ask her to sit to wipe her paws with a towel before coming inside.
- Does your dog like to go on walks? Not assessed due to age.
- Does your dog have any fears? She is showing signs of separation anxiety (i.e. will sometimes cry when she realizes I’m not in the room or if I leave the room). She likes to be nice and close or know where I am.
- Does your dog have any unique traits that you have noticed whether in personality or physically? Limping in her left leg. X-rays have confirmed that there are no issues, and that it might be muscular. This does not prevent her from walking up the stairs, running, playing etc. She also has a cute black triangle on her tail.
- What are the three first words that come to mind when you think of your dog? Sweet, gentle and smart
- Hi! My name is Poppyseed (or Poppy for short). I flew in all the way from Nunavut a few weeks ago and I’ve been settling in quite nicely. My foster mom says I’m a quick learner and an all-around absolute sweetheart! I love to be around people, play with the ball and chew my toys.
