SKYE'S BIO
- Suitable for which type of housing?: (House, townhome, apartment?): House only
- Is your dog good with other dogs?: YES! Needs another confident & human social dog in the home Is your dog good with cats?: She is curious of my cat, but too afraid to approach. Would likely be fine with cats.
- Is your dog good with kids?: Untested, but best in a home without children or older quieter children who will respect her boundaries
- Is your dog house trained?: Working on it. She’s ok at not going in her crate, but if left to free roam overnight she will have an accident.
- Is your dog crate trained?: Yes! She loves her crate, it’s her safe space
- Does your dog have any special needs?: Not particularly. She needs someone who is patient as she is very sensitive.
- Does your dog have any or display any aggression? (Toys, food or people?): No – I’ve had fed her, pet her while she’s eating, taken leaves out of her mouth, touched her paws and cut her nails, etc.
- Is your dog playful?: Not yet. She’s tried to play with a ball once or twice, and she tries to initiate play with my dogs by pawing at them and such but gets scared and overstimulated when they reciprocate.
- Does your dog like to snuggle?: Sort of. She likes to be close to you and will snuggle up when she’s comfortable. She LOVES to nap with her head resting on my leg.
- Does your dog know basic commands? (Sit, stay...): We are working on “Crate” at the moment, but she nothing else.
- Does your dog know any special tricks?: No
- Does your dog like to go on walks?: No, she gets startled very easily and needs a low stimulation environment.
- Does your dog have any fears?: Yes. She is afraid of loud noises, fast movements, and new surroundings. She does not react aggressively though, just tries to hide in the closest “confined” space.
- Does your dog have any unique traits that you have noticed whether in personality or physically?: She LOVES to be pet. For a dog who is so afraid to be touched, once she is comfortable she will paw at you for more pets and gets offended when you stop paying attention to her.
- Skye is a beautiful looking pup who has perky ears and when she’s happy or cuddly they get droopy and crinkly! She also has a neat brown tint under her black coat!
- What are the three first words that come to mind when you think of your dog?: Sweet, timid and gentle
- Skye was placed with me because she was completely shut down when she arrived in Canada from the USA. She wasn’t doing well in a downtown apartment foster home and had to be moved somewhere quieter. Skye is VERY sweet and gentle; she wants to be loved so badly, but she is so afraid to be hurt. She absolutely loves going outside in my fenced in backyard and she is much more relaxed out there (surrounded by cedar hedges so no view of outdoors). When she is outside, she relaxes and runs around chasing my other two dogs – her personality starts to come out. She likes to explore, sniff around and investigate things. She enjoys the company of other dogs and will come running to people in you’re holding a dog or have another pup in your lap. Skye’s ideal home would be a single person or couple with older children or no children at all. She will need a social and confident dog in the home, as this is what helps her come out of her shell. She learns from others and will approach new things with the help of a canine pal. She is truly the most amazing little pup that has so much potential to be a fantastic companion.
