Suitable for which type of housing?: Any
additional to add for housing: His low energy level and quiet nature could make him a potential fit for apartment living, as long as he has consistent access to outdoor time with exercise . If apartment living is chosen, perticular attention must be given to the close quarters often found in apartment buildings and the possibility of frequent dog-to-dog encounters - careful management of interactions with other dogs will help set Agi up for success.
Is your dog good with other dogs?: No
additional to add for dog interactions: Agi is uncomfortable when his personal space is not respected. He has shown corrective behavior toward dogs that are overly pushy or intrusive.
Is your dog good with cats?: No
additional to add for cat interactions: Agi has a high prey drive and is not suitable for homes with small pets.
Is your dog good with kids?: Yes
additional to add for kids interaction: Agi can be cautious with new situations and prefers a calm, predictable environment. Loud households can be stressful , so he would do best in a home with older children.
Is your dog house trained?: Yes
Is your dog crate trained?: Yes
additional to add for crate training: Agi uses crate at night.
Does your dog have any special needs?:
Agi prefers a low key lifestyle in a quiet home.
Does your dog display any aggression (toys, food, people)?: Agi has never shown any aggression toward people. He has successfully lived with another dog, but he can be reactive toward unfamiliar dogs and has previously corrected a puppy. Agi prefers calm, respectful interactions and does not enjoy high-energy behaviour. If another dog ignores his signals or invades his personal space, he may correct them. He would do best in a quiet home that understands and respects his boundaries.
Is your dog playful?: Agi is a calm fellow who enjoys a walk, chewing his bone or going for a swim.
Does your dog like to snuggle?: Agi would love to be with his person, watch T.V. or hang out on the deck.
Does your dog know basic commands? (e.g., Sit, Stay): Agi has had extensive obedience training and is an extremely intelligent boy. He has participated in skijorking, bikejorking and dog sledding, for fun. He knows all the basic commands and is eager to please.
Does your dog know any special tricks?: skijorking, bikejorking and dog sledding
Does your dog like to go on walks?: Yes but Agi can be reactive toward unfamiliar dogs, so adopters should be prepared to use positive reinforcement and redirection, such as treats, when needed. Agi is not a candidate for off-leash areas or dog parks. He will be happiest with structured walks and carefully managed dog introductions.
Does your dog have any fears?: Agi is sensitive to new things and may be cautious at first but he warms up quickly. High energy or activity stresses him out. He much prefers a low key vibe.
Does your dog have any unique traits (personality or physical)?: N/A
What are the first three words that come to mind when you think of your dog?: Soulful, demure and intelligent
In a short paragraph, please provide any other details or a brief overview of your foster dog.: Agi is a 6-year-old gentleman who enjoys the quiet life. He has had extensive obedience training, is highly intelligent, and loves having a strong bond with his people. Agi is well-mannered in the home, has no destructive behaviours, and has never shown aggression toward people.
While Agi has lived with another dog in the past, he generally finds other dogs too busy and overwhelming. He does not tolerate dogs invading his personal space and may respond strongly if his boundaries are ignored. As a result, a dog-free home is recommended. He can also be reactive to unfamiliar dogs on walks, so his adopter should be comfortable using positive reinforcement and redirection techniques. Off-leash parks and dog parks are not suitable for Agi.
If you're looking for a loyal, intelligent, low-maintenance companion who enjoys a peaceful lifestyle, Agi may be just the man you've been waiting for. ❤️
