BLUE'S PICS

Adopt a Pet Today!

BREED : HUSKY X WEST TERRIER - MALE - 5 YEARS OLD

  • Suitable for which type of housing? House / Townhome / Apartment - additional to add for housing: Blue is quiet in the house, and when I leave, I’ll hear him scratch lightly at the door, let out a single bark, and then a small whimper. It’s clear that Blue forms attachments quickly and wants to know where his people have gone. Once settled, Blue is calm and well‑mannered indoors. He isn’t destructive and doesn’t bark excessively, but he does let you know that he prefers not to be left behind. With reassurance, routine, and continued confidence‑building, Blue has the potential to feel comfortable and secure when home alone.
  • Is your dog good with other dogs? Yes - additional to add for dog interactions: It took Blue a few days to get used to sharing his household with other dogs, but once he settled in, he showed steady progress. He’s now starting to get comfortable with my 85‑lb male’s play style and is learning how to engage appropriately. Blue benefits from clear boundaries, calm introductions, and dogs that respect his space while he builds confidence
  • Is your dog good with cats? Yes - additional to add for cat interactions: Blue has had limited access to my cats, as they’re content having their own separate space. When introductions did occur, Blue showed no interest in them and remained calm and indifferent.
  • Is your dog good with kids? Yes - additional to add for kids interaction: Blue was an owner surrender after inappropriate urination in his previous home, which appeared to be related to anxiety around younger children. Since being removed from that environment, Blue has shown no signs of anxiety. He has remained calm and relaxed, including during interactions with older children, suggesting that a quieter, more predictable setting suits him best.
  • Is your dog house trained? Yes - additional to add for house training: Blue had two accidents in the house on his first day, which was expected and consistent with the 3‑3‑3 adjustment period. A week in, Blue understands my routine and has been settling in well.
  • Is your dog crate trained? No - additional to add for crate training: It was reported by Blue’s previous family that he does not do well in a crate. At this time, Blue is sectioned off from my pack to allow him additional space to decompress. He has been settling well with this approach and has been non‑destructive in the home.
  • Does your dog have any special needs? NA
  • Does your dog display any aggression (toys, food, people)? NA
  • Is your dog playful? Blue is starting to learn how to play with my dogs and with me. With time, patience, and positive interactions, Blue will make a wonderful playmate and companion.
  • Does your dog like to snuggle? If Blue could, he would happily lie on or sit right on me and soak up all the attention in the world. He’s an affectionate dog who enjoys being close to his people and takes comfort in companionship.
  • Does your dog know basic commands? (e.g., Sit, Stay) Sit, come
  • Does your dog know any special tricks? NA
  • Does your dog like to go on walks? Blue can be a little anxious in new surroundings, but he is learning to adapt well with time and consistency. As with any dog, leash manners are an ongoing work in progress, and Blue continues to improve with regular practice and positive guidance.
  • Does your dog have any fears? So far, Blue does not like the vacuum cleaner, though it’s still early to determine whether he has any major or lasting fears. As he continues to settle in, his confidence is gradually building.
  • Does your dog have any unique traits (personality or physical)? NA
  • What are the first three words that come to mind when you think of your dog? Affectionate, gentle, adaptable

Blue is a 5‑year‑old, medium‑sized terrier cross weighing approximately 40–45 lbs. He has a solid, sturdy build and could benefit from shedding a bit of his winter weight as he continues to settle into regular activity and routine.
Affectionate, gentle, and adaptable, Blue is quiet and well‑mannered in the house and has been non‑destructive. He prefers being close to his people and, if given the choice, would happily lie on or lean against you to soak up all the attention he can get.
Blue can be a little anxious in new surroundings, but he is learning to adapt well with time, consistency, and reassurance. He initially needed a few days to adjust to sharing his space with other dogs and is now beginning to understand and enjoy appropriate play with both canine companions and people.
He has had limited exposure to cats and showed no interest during introductions. Blue does not do well in a crate, but he has settled nicely when given his own space to decompress. House training improved quickly after the first day as he learned the household routine, and leash manners are an ongoing, normal work in progress.
Overall, Blue is a loving, people‑oriented dog who thrives on companionship and patience and will make a wonderful, devoted companion in the right home.

Blue would thrive in a calm, patient home that enjoys an affectionate, people‑oriented dog. A quieter environment with predictable routines would suit him best, and a family without very young children may be ideal. If there are other dogs in the home, slow introductions and respectful play styles will help Blue continue building confidence. Blue would do well with adopters who can offer reassurance, companionship, and ongoing guidance as he continues to settle and learn.
