Frank’s Must-Haves
Frank needs a committed family ready to support both his confidence-building and high energy needs.
Suitable for which type of housing? (House, townhome, apartment?)
A townhouse or single-family home with a yard would be best. A home with no shared entrance is required, as Frank is still hesitant with strangers and may become scared in tight spaces with unfamiliar people.
Is your dog good with other dogs?
Frank would do best with dogs of similar size and energy level. He is young and playful. His future home will need to supervise interactions around shared resources and prevent other dogs from rushing into his face or space when he has toys or food. Frank currently lives with two other large breed dogs with different age and energy level.
Is your dog good with cats?
Untested.
Is your dog good with kids?
Older kids (12+) due to his size and youthful energy. When excited, he may jump and can reach up to 5 feet tall. He is also strong.
Is your dog house-trained?
Yes
Is your dog crate trained?
Yes
Does your dog have any special needs?
Yes. Frank takes time to warm up to new people and can be very vigilant on walks. He needs a patient adopter who will go at his pace while continuing safe, positive exposure to new people, places, and experiences to help build his confidence. Frank may jerk or pulls on leash due to his fear.
Applicants should expect to do multiple meet-and-greets to allow Frank to feel comfortable. Experience with fearful dogs and a calm, patient approach are highly preferred.
Frank is also a high-energy, tall, and athletic young dog. He requires consistent exercise and continued obedience training.
Does your dog have any or display any aggression? (Toys, food or people?)
Frank has shown some resource-guarding tendencies with food and toys toward other dogs that did not respect his space in his previous home. This has never occurred with humans.
He would benefit from being fed separately from other dogs and having toys and treats given separately. His family should advocate for him by ensuring other dogs do not crowd him while he has resources.
Is your dog playful?
Very playful once he comes out of his shell. When excited, he may jump and can reach up to 5 feet due to his long legs.
Does your dog like to snuggle?
Very cuddly once he knows and trusts you. His size and long limbs won’t stop him from trying to curl up in your lap like a 20 lb puppy.
Does your dog know basic commands? (Sit, stay...?)
Yes — sit, down, stay, come, and heel. Frank has done board and train with Kanata K9 and have solidify his foundation commands.
Does your dog know any special tricks?
Paw
Does your dog like to go on walks?
Yes. Walks help burn energy, but running and active play are important to fully meet his exercise needs. He is very puppy-like once he opens up.
Does your dog have any fears?
Yes. Frank needs time to warm up to new people and can be vigilant on walks. He requires a patient owner who will continue positive exposure training to help him gain confidence. Multiple meet-and-greets will be necessary. Frank may jerk or pulls on leash due to his fear.
He also needs his human to advocate for him around other dogs, especially when resources are involved.
Does your dog have any unique traits that you have noticed whether in personality or traits?
Frank has very long legs, a tall build, and black-and-white spotting. He can be adorably awkward on stairs — a little like Bambi.

Frank is a stunning 1-year-old black-and-white Husky mix with soulful eyes and a heart full of potential. Weighing about 70 lbs with long, tall limbs, he is a truly handsome and athletic boy. As a puppy, Frank was fostered with other dogs and did well, though he is best suited to canine companions who match his size and energy level and who respect his space around resources.
