BREED : SHEPHERD X HUSKY X MALINOIS MIX - MALE - 2 YEARS OLD
Suitable for which type of housing?
Detached home with a yard – no apartment as he can cry the entire duration of being alone and can paces, he also can bark in the yard if he sees strangers. He would stop barking if he has his vibration collar on (from previous home)
Is your dog good with other dogs?
Yes. He’s shy at first but loves to snuggle once he gains confidence. He currently lives with five other dogs of various sizes, ages, and temperaments.
Is your dog good with cats?
Untested. He seems uninterested in smaller animals and can be shy, so he would likely do well if the resident cat has a separate space at first.
Is your dog good with kids?
We were told he previously lived with children and did well. He would do best with respectful, dog-savvy kids aged 8+ because he is shy and needs time to decompress without being chased or overwhelmed.
Is your dog house trained?
Yes.
Is your dog crate trained?
Yes, though he may cry during the initial adjustment period. He can also tear things up in the crate when anxious.
Does your dog have any special needs?
He needs patience and experienced handling due to anxiety – he needs someone that can help introduce new people, experiences while making him feel safe. He also needs help losing a little weight, as he is currently heavier than recommended.
Does your dog have any or display any aggression? (Toys, food, or people?)
None observed.
Is your dog playful?
He is very anxious and scared at first but will try to chase his foster siblings around once he’s more comfortable.
Does your dog like to snuggle?
Yes, especially once he feels safe.
Does your dog know basic commands? (Sit, stay...)
He knows “sit” and has good recall when using a vibration collar.
Does your dog know any special tricks?
None at this time.
Does your dog like to go on walks?
Yes, but he pulls strongly on the leash.
Does your dog have any fears?
He is fearful of new environments and strangers and may bark at people he doesn't know. He tends to duck away from touch when first settling in and paces a lot in new situations. Currently on trazadone to help him with transition from previous home and is adapting well and becoming more snuggling with new foster.
Does your dog have any unique traits that you have noticed whether in personality or physically?
He has soulful, hopeful eyes and a short, curly tail.
What are the three first words that come to mind when you think of your dog?
Timid, tender, hopeful
Furgus, a sweet 2 -year-old Shepherd x Husky x Malinois mix (around 70 lbs), is looking for a patient, loving home. He’s shy and anxious at first but has a tender, hopeful spirit that shines once he feels safe. He does best in a detached home with a yard — apartment living isn’t ideal, as he can cry and pace when left alone and may bark at strangers passing by (though he responds well to a vibration collar from his previous home). He lives peacefully with five other dogs and would likely be fine with a respectful, dog-savvy cat. Previously living with children, he would do best with calm kids 8+ who can respect his need for space while he adjusts. He is house- and crate-trained, though he may cry or chew during periods of anxiety when in crates. This boy needs a gentle, experienced hand to guide him through new experiences and help him feel safe. He loves snuggling, has basic manners like “sit” and great recall with a vibration collar (from his previous home), and enjoys walks (though he is a strong puller). His soulful eyes and short, curly tail will steal your heart.
