BREED : Golden doodle / border collie mix - FEMALE - 15 weeks old
Breed? Golden doodle / border collie mix
Suitable for which type of housing? (House, townhome, apartment?) Any, but she can be vocal when you first put her in her crate, so soundproofing would be important as to not disturb neighbors.
Is your dog good with other dogs? Yes! She loves to play with her foster brother.
Is your dog good with cats? She chases so would be best in a home with a dog savvy cat or a cat free home.
Is your dog good with kids? Untested but likely. She is still a puppy and learning how to play and not to bite fingers (she nips infrequently but will sometimes bite human hands instead of the toy by accident), so will need supervision and training. She will also jump up and over people while doing her zoomies.
Is your dog house trained? She uses pee pads in her crate / playpen area and may have an accident if you don't listen to her subtle cues. She will wake up 1-2 times a night to go potty.
Is your dog crate trained? She may cry when she first goes into her playpen / crate area (unless she's tired and ready for bed) but will settle in a few minutes. She will go into her crate willingly.
Does your dog have any special needs? No.
Does your dog have any or display any aggression? (Toys, food or people?) No.
Is your dog playful? Yes! She will play independently.
Does your dog like to snuggle? Yes!
Does your dog know basic commands? (Sit, stay...) Sit. We are working on wait, come, and calm before exiting the playpen.
Does your dog know any special tricks? She's very perceptive, and will be intrigued by dog tv, reflections in the mirror and even photographs.
Does your dog like to go on walks? She isn't fully vaccinated so is only going in the backyard for now.
Does your dog have any fears? Nothing so far.
Does your dog have any unique traits that you have noticed whether in personality or physically? Kelly has long lanky legs and a cute tuff of white hair on her chin and chest. She's a classy lady and often lies down with her front paws crossed. She loves to find and play with cherry tomatoes in the garden.
What are the three first words that come to mind when you think of your dog? Adorable, inquisitive, balanced
In a short paragraph, please provide any other details or a brief overview of your foster dog. Kelly has settled in quickly in her new foster home. Rescued from Kentucky, she had a long journey and is so close to the final stage of finding her forever home. She can be playful and energetic, but her energy levels seem more golden doodle than border collie at the moment (which may change as she gets older). She loves to chase her foster canine brother and have zoomies, but will also play independently and take breaks for a nap or to look out the window. She would do well as a solo animal or with canine siblings. As a young puppy, Kelly will require lots of time and effort for training, play and socialization. To avoid boredom and to be happy and well behaved, she needs plenty of mental stimulation and physical exercise.
