Suitable for which type of housing? Milhouse would do best in a dog free home with a backyard where he can run around off leash. He would also be okay in a home without a backyard if the adoptive family is dedicated to making sure he gets frequent walks and other outdoor and exercise time.
Is your dog good with other dogs? Milhouse requires a dog free home as he is dog selective. We've notice he doesn't get along with other intact male dogs.
Is your dog good with cats? Untested
Is your dog good with kids? Yes, he loves kids
Is your dog house trained? Yes
Is your dog crate trained? Yes. He will cry for a little when you leave but after that he settles down. He can sleep all night in his crate with no issues.
Does your dog have any special needs? No
Does your dog have any or display any aggression? (Toys, food or people?): Milhouse does not display any form of aggression towards toys, food, or people; he has been tested with removal of toys and food. Like many Bull Terrier puppies, Milhouse sometimes playfully nips at people when he is overstimulated or overtired. Redirection and having a calming energy have been effective training methods, and I am confident that this is only a temporary habit that he can be trained out of and outgrow.
Is your dog playful? Milhouse loves to play and will happily play all day! He loves to play with other dogs, people, and on his own! He particularly likes playing with squeaker toys and tug. He likes to play fetch, however, is still learning to ‘drop’ the ball after he retrieves it. Note: Milhouse is a tough chewer and can be destructive with toys, as such Kong or other tough brand toys are best for him.
Does your dog like to snuggle? Milhouse loves to snuggle and has a particularly good intuition for when his person needs some extra love and will lay down next to or on top of them.
Does your dog know basic commands? (Sit, stay...) He knows sit, stay, down, and off. He recently started learning marker words (yes, good, okay, no) as well as “place”. Training is going well (he is very smart and will pick things up quickly with consistency and treats)
Does your dog know any special tricks? Milhouse currently does not know any special tricks, however, he is an expert blanket arranger and particularly talented in hiding his bones for safe keeping and knowing exactly where they are when he wants to chew on them again.
Does your dog like to go on walks? Milhouse loves going on walks! He walks fairly well on a leash and is improving every day.
Does your dog have any fears? No
Does your dog have any unique traits that you have noticed whether in personality or physically? He has a white line on his head between his eyes and an area above his noise that is a soft pink.
What are the three first words that come to mind when you think of your dog? Playful, Velcro dog, and affectionate.
Milhouse is one of the most loving and happy dogs I have ever met. He is very eager to please his people and loves to be told he is a “good boy”; however, he still needs a little help learning his manners. He is very smart and with patience, consistency, and treats he will pick up on things very quickly. He is a high energy breed and needs a mix of physical and mental stimulation (training tends to tire him out) and is a Velcro dog, meaning he wants to be around other people and will follow you from room to room and often lay at your feet. Milhouse is a really good dog and above all he needs someone who can give him the patience, attention, and love that he needs; with this I know he will thrive and be such a wonderful addition to the family.
