SCOOTER'S PICS

    SCOOTER'S BIO

    BREED : AUSSIE X (40LB) - MALE - 4 YEARS OLD

Suitable for which type of housing?
    House
    Townhome

    Additional notes (housing):
House or well soundproof townhome with some yard space and distance from neighbours. Can be vocal when excited by movement outside and when crated.

Is your dog good with other dogs?
    Yes

    Additional notes (dog interactions):
Fostered with 4 other dogs of different personalities, sizes, and ages. Does very well with all. May occasionally try to hump but overall loves to play with everyone.

Is your dog good with cats?
    No

    Additional notes (cat interactions):
Previously lived with a cat. May vocalize to try to engage the cat in play. Not recommended, as he may persist and become vocal if ignored.

Is your dog good with kids?
    Untested

    Additional notes (kids):
Likely best with children 7+ who are respectful of his space. Very loving with people he knows.

    Is your dog house trained?
    Yes

    Additional notes (house training):
Will signal when he needs to go outside.

    Is your dog crate trained?
    In progress

    Additional notes (crate training):
Can be vocal in the crate. Will eventually settle but may continue vocalizing with changes in environment or routine. Likely does not need to be crated when left alone eventually as he settles into a new home and routine ( very clean and non-destructive, just vocal because he wants to be part of the actions).

Does your dog have any special needs?
Scooter would thrive with a family that will play with and walk him regularly. He benefits from expending energy with dog friends.

Does your dog display any aggression (toys, food, people)?
No. Can be shy when meeting new people but warms up quickly.

    Is your dog playful?
Yes. Would benefit from a fenced yard where he can run and play. Loves playing with dog friends.

Does your dog like to snuggle?
Yes, once comfortable. Happily sleeps near his foster human’s feet.

Does your dog know basic commands?
Sit, paw (both sides), down, roll over, move over, back up. Recall is quite good.

Does your dog know any special tricks?
None beyond the commands listed above.

Does your dog like to go on walks?
Absolutely! Can pull, but walks much better after playtime or exercise.

Does your dog have any fears?
Shy with new people. May be uncomfortable with having his feet touched (not observed by current foster). Warms up quickly if the other dogs show that the stranger is safe and ok to approach.

Does your dog have any unique traits?
Extremely smart and eager to learn.

Three words to describe your dog:
    Smart, lovable, happy

    Overview:
Scooter has some herding instincts that show up as barking and eagerness to engage and play, especially when he’s being held back. When he’s able to interact and play with other dogs, he becomes much more settled and content. He currently lives with four other dogs in his foster home and does very well with them. After playtime, Scooter relaxes and settles nicely on his own.

Scooter can be vocal in his crate, particularly when left alone, and would do best in a detached home or well soundproofed townhome with a yard and some distance from neighbours. His foster believes he may not need to be crated when left alone, as he is house-trained and not destructive. He benefits from being kept away from windows or doors where outside activity may trigger barking.

He can be shy when meeting new people but warms up quickly, especially when other dogs are present. Once comfortable, he is very sweet and social. He may pull on leash, though this improves with exercise and consistent training.

Due to his strong interest in movement and play, Scooter is not recommended for homes with cats.

If you’re looking for a medium-sized, sweet, smart, and well-behaved pup with an adorable muppet-like face—especially if you already have a playful dog—Scooter could be a great match.
