Suitable for Which Type of Housing?

    House, Townhome

additional to add for housing: fenced yard preferred or secure tie out

Is your dog good with other dogs? Yes

additional to add for dog interactions: Sienna does well with other dogs, but she has shown some resource guarding around food and possibly toys. As with any dog-to-dog introduction, new canine friends should be introduced slowly, preferably outdoors first, and with direct supervision. Her resource guarding can be improved with proper training, management, and consistency.

Is your dog good with cats? Untested

Is your dog good with kids? Untested

additional to add for kids interaction: Sienna has lived in a home with a baby before, but some concerns were noted around resource guarding. For this reason, she would do best with older, dog-savvy children who can respect her space

Is your dog house trained? Yes

Is your dog crate trained? Yes

additional to add for crate training: In her previous home, she slept in a crate a night and voluntarily retreated to her crate during the date for a snooze.  She did not exhibit any destructive behaviour but has shown interest in counter surfing.  This has become better with the command off or leave it.

Does your dog have any special needs? None noted.

Sienna is a young, high-energy dog who will need an active home committed to providing daily exercise, mental stimulation, and structure. As expected from her Husky genes, she can be vocal and dramatic when she is frustrated or does not get her way. Her future adopter should be prepared for a dog with lots of personality, energy, and the occasional expressive “woooo.”

Please note Freedom's Vetting team's notes: Approx DOB Aug 3 2024

Does your dog display any aggression (toys, food, people)? Some resource guarding with food towards other dogs.  She may try to hoard toys.  She is a confident assertive dog who, if allowed, will try to make decisions on her own.  But she is very intelligent, eager to learn and food motivated, which should make training much easier.

Is your dog playful? Sienna is a still a young, exuberant, playful dog.  She is very brave and curious.  She would make an amazing running or hiking partner.  She would probably do very well at agility, scent training or other dog sports.  She plays fetch and tug and  will wade in the water.

Does your dog like to snuggle? Despite all this energy, Sienna also likes to be pampered.  She likes to lie in the sun, look out the window, or curl up on the couch.  She will actively watch TV with you.  She is a true companion dog who wants to do whatever you are.

Does your dog know basic commands? (e.g., Sit, Stay) Sienna is extremely intelligent and food motivated.  She is easy to train and has already learned sit, come, down, leave it, settle, gentle, off and look.

Does your dog know any special tricks? Not yet.

Does your dog like to go on walks? Sienna is happiest when she is outside exploring, sniffing, and taking in the world around her. She loves to use her nose and would be a great match for someone who enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, and enrichment activities. True to her Husky-type personality, she can pull on leash if given the chance, but she is not overly difficult to manage and can be redirected. Treats and a Halti may be useful tools to help her build better leash skills.

Sienna is curious when she sees other dogs and would often like to say hello, but she can be encouraged to keep moving. She is also enthusiastic when meeting new people and may be a little jumpy in her excitement, though she settles quickly. This is a behavior that should improve with positive reinforcement.

Does your dog have any fears? None.  She is very good in the car.

Does your dog have any unique traits (personality or physical)? Sienna is a gorgeous young dog with a lot of potential.  She is very athletic, smart and loving.

What are the first three words that come to mind when you think of your dog? Athletic, intelligent, eager

In a short paragraph, please provide any other details or a brief overview of your foster dog. Sienna is looking for her second chance. This gorgeous young dog is joyful, extremely intelligent, eager to learn, and full of potential. She would make a wonderful companion for an active person or family who can provide her with plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, structure, and love.

Sienna has an outgoing, confident personality and is still learning self-control, but with proper socialization and positive reinforcement training, she has every opportunity to thrive. She is sweet, loving, and eager for guidance from someone who can help her become the best dog she can be. Sienna truly just needs someone patient and committed to showing her the ropes.
