Suitable for which type of housing? Any! Tippy can be vocal when excited but it is not excessive. She would thrive in a quieter area with regular access to secure outdoor spaces (e.g., fenced backyard, private-use dog parks) or hiking trails for on-leash adventures.
Is your dog good with other dogs? Yes, with slow introductions (see more below). She currently lives with another dog and does very well.
Is your dog good with cats? Untested.
Is your dog good with kids? Yes, kids 12+ recommended. Tippy is still a puppy and can be mouthy/jumpy when excited.
Is your dog house trained? Yes! Tippy goes to the door when she needs to go outside. Regression is normal when a dog is adjusting to a new environment, so she may have some accidents at first.
Is your dog crate trained? In progress. Tippy sleeps well in her crate at night as long as she can see her people! She may whine for a few minutes but settles quickly. Tippy is still working on being comfortable when left alone in the crate.
Does your dog have any fears? Tippy can be uncertain of new dogs/people, but she warms up quickly! Tippy feels safest when she is ignored by new people at first, this gives her the time and space to feel comfortable around new friends.
Does your dog have any special needs? Tippy will need someone who is home for most of the day (e.g., remote worker) as she is not comfortable spending time alone just yet. She would also love someone to do confidence building training, desensitization, and lots of positive reinforcement with to show her that new people/dogs aren’t scary!
Does your dog have any or display any aggression? No, but can be fearful. Tippy is insecure around new people/dogs and would like a forever family that helps her feel safe by advocating for her space!
Is your dog playful? Very! Tippy is a firecracker. She has multiple stints of silly zoomies throughout the day and will also initiate play by bringing you a toy.
Does your dog like to snuggle? Yes! Tippy is the ultimate cuddle bug. She even asks for hugs!
Does your dog know basic commands? Tippy knows her name, ‘sit’, and ‘no.’ She is a fast learner and is eager to please!
Does your dog know any special tricks? Not yet, but she has started doing casual agility games with her foster family and loves it.
Does your dog like to go on walks? Yes! Tippy started going on leashed walks recently and she lives for the adventure. Walking on a leash is new to her, but she is working on her leash manners!
Does your dog have any unique traits that you have noticed whether in personality or physically? Tippy is a beautifully silly girl, inside and out. You could recognize her anywhere! She has a silky, shiny black coat with 4 little white socks and a white diamond under her chin. We joke that she has ‘permanent bedhead’ because of her floppy and fluffy ears. While we don’t know Tippy’s breed mix, she has the energy and intelligence of a Border Collie! She has short, muscular legs that take her to new heights and her infamous ‘corgi butt’ makes everyone smile. Tippy will become your full time side-kick – she is always up for an adventure with her people (good thing she is travel-sized)!
What are the three first words that come to mind when you think of your dog? Sweet; Cuddly; Firecracker.
Meet Tippy, a 10-month-old Spitz-mix with a lust for life! Tippy wants nothing more than to love you and be loved by you. She is a high energy girl and would be the perfect fit for an active family. Don’t let her low-rider looks fool you! Tippy is very agile – she is fast and can jump 3-4 feet high. She would love to be enrolled in agility or other sports in the future! Tippy’s forever family should be mindful of her superpowers when exercising her outside, sticking to securely fenced areas and/or using a long leash until Tippy has reliable recall. Tippy is still a puppy and can have moments of mischief (like stealing the odd sock), but she is not destructive.
With adequate physical activity and mental enrichment in her daily routine, Tippy knows how to relax and enjoy quiet time after her play sessions. She’ll happily settle next to you while you’re in meetings or snuggle up for a cozy TV marathon. Tippy is still learning that the world isn’t so scary; she would love a forever family who is committed to helping Tippy create neutral associations with new people/dogs and who advocates for her when she feels uncertain. Tippy will thrive in a home where she can get lots of time with her people, cuddles, physical exercise, and mental stimulation. Think you might be the right fit for this little dynamo? Tippy can’t wait to meet you!
