TOASTER'S PICS

    TOASTER'S BIO

    BREED : JACK RUSSEL X - MALE - 7 YEARS OLD

    • Suitable for which type of housing? (House, townhome, apartment?) Toaster would do well in any home, but he does bark at noises. He’s been living in a semi-detached, and will sometimes bark when someone goes in/out of the neighbour’s front door or someone on the other side of the wall makes a loud noise.
    • Is your dog good with other dogs? Yes. Toaster has been living with a foster brother who is bigger than him and they get along well. He also REALLY wants to meet dogs he passes on walks, to the point he cries whines when he doesn’t get to.
    • Is your dog good with cats? Untested.
    • Is your dog good with kids? He’s been living with 7- and 9-year-old girls and is great with them. He greets them when they come home from school and loves when they play with him. That said, Toaster was very leery when he first moved into his foster home and everyone in the home understood to give him appropriate space and wait for him to let us know when he was ready to be touched and played with.
    • Is your dog house trained? Yes.
    • Is your dog crate trained? Not yet. Mr. Toaster Oven has anxiety related to the crate, so we’ve been slowly increasing introducing him to the crate but he doesn’t spend much time in there.
    • Does your dog have any or display any aggression? None at all.
    • Is your dog playful? That’s an understatement! He loves chasing and catching toys when her people toss them, and playing keep away.
    • Does your dog like to snuggle? He loves butt scratches and pats, but doesn’t consider himself a lapdog in spite of his size.
    • Does your dog know basic commands? He knows “sit.”
    • Does your dog know any special tricks? He does a pretty neat twirly dance when he’s about to get his food bowl.
    • Does your dog like to go on walks? Toaster loves going for walks, sniffing around and meeting any dogs he can.
    • Does your dog have any fears? Toaster was exceptionally nervous and shy when he first came into care. He was scared of people, being touched and many other things. He has opened up so much, though, and is showing off what a sweet and playful boy he is (he still doesn’t like the vet though). If Toaster is your forever dog, he’ll need you to be very patient, He’ll let you know when he’s ready for each next step.
    • Does your dog have any unique traits that you have noticed whether in personality or physically? Every few days, as he comes out of his shell a little more, he reveals something new about himself. Whether it’s grabbing a toy to show you as soon as you walk in the door, his love of being outside, his adorable smile, his food dance, his tippy-taps for butt scratches, or the way he cocks his head from side to side when he’s listening to a person speak.
    • What are the three first words that come to mind when you think of your dog? At first, anxious and scared. But after that, Toaster is playful, quirky and happy.

    • Toaster is such a great boy. He’s gentle and kind, playful but calm when it’s time to be calm, and gets along with all the people and dogs he’s met. That said, it took him a few weeks to show what a truly great pup he is when he first came to Freedom, instead demonstrating anxious, shy and nervous traits.
